New Moon in Taurus on May 16, 2026
Before we arrived at the New Moon in Taurus today, May 16th, many important astrological shifts have taken place that will help shape the energy of this New Moon and the months beyond.
On May 6th, Pluto went retrograde for five months, remaining retrograde until October 16th. Pluto will also continue its long journey through Aquarius until 2033. Pluto represents power, control, transformation, secrets, and revelation. When Pluto turns retrograde, we are often asked to reevaluate where power exists in our lives, both collectively and personally. Questions may arise about whether old systems should remain the same or evolve into something entirely different.
On a personal level, many people may begin re-assessing their inner power, sovereignty, and the changes needed for their own growth and well-being.
Pluto also has a strong connection to hidden truths and exposing what has remained beneath the surface. This energy becomes even stronger now with Uranus in Gemini, which encourages clarity, awareness, and new understanding. Together, Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus in Gemini may bring revelations involving technology, artificial intelligence, communication systems, financial structures, and long-hidden information.
Aquarius is often mistaken for a water sign because of its symbol, but it is actually an air sign. Aquarius also happens to be a fixed sign, meaning it tends to resist change, yet during this cycle, change becomes unavoidable. This can create tension, much like a snake shedding its skin.
These planetary alignments may also coincide with major earth changes, including volcanic activity, earthquakes, heightened solar activity, and shifts involving communication systems, aviation, and electrical infrastructure. Uranus energy can feel sudden, electric, erratic, and highly stimulating.
At the same time, there is also healing potential within these energies.
The increased solar activity from the sun may affect both the Earth and our bodies energetically. Rather than resisting these shifts, it may help to work with them consciously. Meditation, breathwork, positive thinking, music, laughter, and moments of mental stimulation can all help support the nervous system during this time.
Even simple things matter:
spending time in nature
letting your feet touch the grass
stepping away from digital overload
reconnecting with your natural intuition
This period asks us to become more discerning about what is real and what is artificial, especially in an age of AI, social media, and information overload. Trust your intuition and your own intelligence.
Uranus in Gemini may also bring disruptions involving communication systems, technology, or power structures as humanity adapts to rapidly evolving systems. Yet beneath all of this change lies a larger purpose: evolution, clarity, and awakening.
In many ways, it may feel as though the “mud” is finally being wiped away from our eyes so we can begin seeing clearly again after a very long time.
This period may also bring opportunities that should not be ignored. Some opportunities may come only once, especially those connected to innovation, freedom, communication, or personal growth.
As awareness expands, many people may also notice heightened intuition, deeper energetic sensitivity, and stronger emotional perception. Pluto moving out of bounds to the south reflects themes of independence, sovereignty, and freedom that may continue developing over the next decade.
The New Moon in Taurus
The New Moon in Taurus on May 16 encourages us to plant new seeds and create new intentions.
Taurus is an earth sign, bringing grounding, stability, simplicity, peace, and presence, all things greatly needed during such a rapidly changing time. While Taurus traditionally values material comfort and possessions, this New Moon shifts focus more toward spiritual values, meaningful human connection, and emotional presence.
With so much current planetary energy in fire and air signs, Taurus helps anchor us back into the body, the Earth, and the present moment.
This is why slowing down matters.
Drink more water.
Spend more time in nature.
Reconnect with your body.
Allow yourself moments of peace.
Capricorn energy connected with Salacia and the Sun and Moon emphasizes structure, healing, and rebuilding from within. Water may feel especially restorative now — physically, emotionally, and energetically.
During meditation, try focusing on the light within yourself and imagine it expanding throughout your body. This practice may help support emotional healing, energetic balance, and a deeper sense of inner connection.
Taurus connected with Capricorn also supports building new realities from a grounded foundation. Combined with Uranus in Gemini, there is enormous potential now for innovation, insight, intelligence, creativity, and breakthrough thinking.
Taurus helps keep all of this energy grounded rather than overwhelming.
There is also a fixed star connected to this New Moon called Algol, historically associated with intensity and major life changes. In symbolic terms, this energy reminds us not to resist transformation too strongly. The more we accept necessary change, the easier this transition may become.
So try to remain open to the new energies, perspectives, and possibilities unfolding around you.
I think I’ve now had enough with the verbal diarrhea.
Light all around you! Mano ;-)
