New Moon in Capricorn January 18, 2026

Before we begin discussing the New Moon itself, it’s important to note that in Chinese astrology this period marks the New Year of the Fire Horse. The last time this occurred was in the mid-1960s, a time of great artistic achievement and revolutionary change. Just a few years later, John Lennon wrote his legendary song Imagine. That era also brought major shifts in civil rights, women’s rights, and LGBTQ+ rights. People were becoming more awake and aware then, and that same energy is returning now.

Because of this, the second half of January, beginning around this New Moon, will feel very different from the start of the month. This trend will continue to build and become even more dynamic as humanity awakens further to individual and collective rights. This kind of shift always occurs when Pluto moves through Aquarius. People begin to see what they could not see before, especially around human freedom and equality.

This awakening will not be limited to the United States. It will also be felt strongly in China and Russia, with these influences becoming even more noticeable by July 2026.

If you begin now to imagine and envision a different plan for your life, whether that’s a new home, a different job, a new interest, passion, or even an entirely new way of living, those changes can manifest quickly once they begin unfolding. Timing is key, and this New Moon marks an important starting point.

On the world stage, China comes further into focus, particularly around silver. China produces a large portion of the world’s silver supply, which is no longer used only for jewelry but is now essential for modern technology. This gives China increased leverage globally, and that dynamic will continue to develop.

There is also a significant Pluto–Neptune influence involving Russia. Historically, similar alignments coincided with events such as the Russian Revolution in 1917 and the fall of the Berlin Wall. Additionally, both the Russian president and China’s leader carry strong Saturn–Neptune themes in their personal charts, which may play an instrumental role as this year unfolds.

These energies may be felt most strongly by those with Capricorn, Libra, Aries, or Cancer prominent in their charts, though everyone will feel the effects to some degree. This period has the potential to make individuals more influential, whether they realize it immediately or not. Overall, this represents a major new beginning for humanity.

Another critical shift occurs when Neptune leaves Pisces on January 26, a move that will not repeat in our lifetime, as it enters Aries. Symbolically, this marks the collapse of the old order. As Neptune transitions, it may bring increased flooding, tsunamis, and water-related events, while also dissolving deception and illusion.

At the same time, with Neptune entering Aries, fire-related events may also become more prominent. With both fire and water emphasized, challenges at sea are possible. For this reason, collective calmness and conscious intention around the oceans would be wise during this period.

There is also continued influence from a dwarf planet associated with Neptune that reflects leaders losing clarity or control, contributing to global shifts in leadership and authority.

We begin this New Moon with a Venus–Mars conjunction, symbolizing the divine feminine and divine masculine working together. This alignment supports equality between the sexes, mutual respect, and love on a humanitarian level.

This New Moon also highlights the tension and cooperation between Capricorn, representing the past, and Aquarius, representing the future. In this case, they are not in conflict but working together. Capricorn helps us plan, structure, and prepare what needs to be built, while also clearing away what no longer functions. This includes systems tied to banking, currency, wealth, and how value is defined.

Themes of centralized versus decentralized systems continue to emerge, but ultimately this transition favors new forms of exchange. At first, things may feel disjointed, but balance will follow. Unlike past economic collapses, this period points toward positive restructuring, guided by new values where love, life, and meaning take precedence over money alone.
